Marching Band and Color Guard Fall Start Up

• The Band year is comprised of Marching Band in Fall semester and Jazz Band or  Winter Drumline  in the Spring semester. Some students may opt to particiapte in Symphonic or Wind Ensembles in Fall in lieu of Marching Band. 

• The Color Guard year is comprised of performing with Marching Band in the Fall semester and Winter Guard in the Spring semester.

• Note: As of 2024, all incoming freshman and sophomores will be required to take PE in addition to Marching Band/CG. (This includes all sports.) We recommend the online summer P.E. course.  Please email your counselor as soon as possible to be enrolled if you are not already.  Counselor information can be found HERE.

• Physical Exams/Athletic Clearance forms are required for Marching Band as we are a Varsity Sport. (No-Cost if scheduled through Beckman affiliated clinic). CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

• A Transportation Fee payment is required,  typically $200. This fee pays for busses to and from football games and competitions. CLICK HERE TO PAY YOUR TRANSPORTATION FEE (Beginning August 2025)

• Students will practice Monday through Friday during 6th period and one to two days after school until 6:00 p.m.

Investment

Beckman Patriot Band and Color Guard has an annual budget of approximately $46,000. All Marching Band and Color Guard parents will be asked to donate a suggested amount and/or participate in fundraising campaigns

• Required Items for Marching Band: 

  • Suggested donation of $350  to the Band Boosters (Payment plan available)

  • Marching Band and Color Guard Camp: $150 per student

  • Game Day T-Shirt (“Reds”) $15 per shirt (This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Band Shorts (“Grays”) – $12 per pair ((This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Marching Shoes - $55 (This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Spats $15 - (This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Duffle Bag with name personalization $43 (New for 2025) 

  • Red Windbreaker $53 (New for 2025)

  • Note: Winter Drumline Competition Season will have  an additional  participation donation in December

2025 Marching Band & Color Guard Camp

• Band and CG Camp is one week in duration. All incoming band and CG members are required to attend. The fee for Camp is $150 per student. Scholarships are available. Please email Mr. Sussman directly to inquire.

• 2025 Band Camp dates are Monday, August 4th through Friday, August 8th. 

• MANDATORY Parent Meeting held on August 8th at 5:00 p.m. in the PAC (BHS Performing Arts Center), followed by the family dinner and student showcase. 

• Students should bring their instrument, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle & non-perishable snack.

• The Band Boosters will also provide additional water bottles. Students should hydrate the week prior to prepare. 

• Returning students should wear their "reds and grays". New students should wear comfortable shorts and a T-shirt until you get your "reds and grays". All students should wear sneakers for marching.

• Monday, August 4th : 8:00 a.m. Leadership Camp; 10:30 a.m. Freshman Boot Camp ; 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  All band 

• Tuesday, August 5th: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Band Camp (Hawaiian Day) - All Band

• Wednesday, August 6th: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Band Camp (Nerd Day) - All Band

• Thursday, August 7th: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Band Camp (Superhero Day) - All Band

• Friday, August 8th: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Band Camp - All Band; 5:00 p.m. Mandatory Parent Meeting in PAC (Performing Arts Center), 5:45 p.m. Family Dinner, 6:15 p.m. Showcase
