Marching Band and Color Guard

Fall Start Up

• The Band year is comprised of Marching Band in Fall semester and Jazz Band or  Winter Drumline  in the Spring semester. Some students may opt to particiapte in Symphonic or Wind Ensembles in Fall in lieu of Marching Band. 

• The Color Guard year is comprised of performing with Marching Band in the Fall semester and Winter Guard in the Spring semester.

• Note: As of 2024, all incoming freshman and sophomores will be required to take PE in addition to Marching Band/CG. (This includes all sports.) We recommend the online summer P.E. course.  Please email your counselor as soon as possible to be enrolled if you are not already.  Counselor information can be found HERE.

• Physical Exams/Athletic Clearance forms are required for Marching Band as we are a Varsity Sport. (No-Cost if scheduled through Beckman affiliated clinic). CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

• A Transportation Fee payment is required,  typically $200. This fee pays for busses to and from football games and competitions. CLICK HERE TO PAY YOUR TRANSPORTATION FEE (Beginning August 2026)

• Students will practice Monday through Friday during 6th period and one to two days after school until 6:00 p.m.

Investment

Beckman Patriot Band and Color Guard has an annual budget of approximately $46,000. All Marching Band and Color Guard parents will be asked to donate a suggested amount and/or participate in fundraising campaigns

• Required Items for Marching Band: 

  • The Band Family annual donation will be due in September. The 2026 budget is not yet complete, but expect the amount to be no more than $450. Payment plan available.

  • Marching Band and Color Guard Camp: Cost TBD 

  • Game Day T-Shirt (“Reds”) $19 per shirt (This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Band Shorts (“Grays”) – $18 per pair (This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Marching Shoes - $60  (This will be available for purchase during registration at Band fittings)

  • Spats $15 - (Available for purchase during registration at Band fittings or 

  • Duffle Bag with name personalization $43 

  • Red Windbreaker $47 

  • Note: Winter Drumline Competition Season will have  an additional  participation donation in December

• Required for Color Guard:

  • Note: The Winter Guard Competition Season will have a separate participation donation in January 

2026 Marching Band & Color Guard Camp

BAND CAMP REGISTRATION COMING SOON:

Bnd Camp is Monday, August 3rd through Friday, August 7th  

• Band and CG Camp is one week in duration. All incoming band and CG members are required to attend. The fee  for Camp is $TBD per student. Scholarships are available. Please email Mr. Ruvalcaba directly to inquire jruvalcaba@tustin.k12.ca.us

• 2026 Band Camp dates are Monday, August 3rd through Friday, August 7th, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

• Students should bring their instrument, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle & a lunch that doesn't need to be refrigerated.

• The Band Boosters will also provide additional water bottles. Students should hydrate the week prior to prepare. 

• Returning students should wear their "reds and grays". Reds and grays will be available for new students to purcahse at registration. New students should wear comfortable shorts and a T-shirt until you get your "reds and grays". All students should wear sneakers for marching.

• Friday, August 8th: Theme - Playing Like a Patriot! (Patriot Reds)
